5, 6 & 7 September 2008
Exhibition Park in Canberra
The Exhibition will include four sections:
1. An Open Competition (four categories)
- Carving and sculpture in wood
- Furniture (floor standing items)
- Wood turning (all types)
- Other woodwork (e.g. boxes, marquetry, tools, instruments)
First place in each category in the Open Competition will attract a prize of $1000. A certificate will be issued for the ‘Grand Champion’ of the Exhibition.
2. A Young Achiever Award (Open Competition, one award)
The Young Achiever award is open to craftspeople under the age of 18 at the time of the Exhibition. Entries in any of the Open categories may be considered for the award ($500).
3. A Members Only section (sixteen categories) and
- Boxes (not turned)
- Carving / Sculpture
- Collaborative work
- Furniture (floor standing)
- Furniture (other)
- Furniture (restoration)
- Marquetry, Intarsia & Scroll Saw
- Models
- Pyrography
- Tool making and tool restoration
- Toys and games
- Woodturning (between centres)
- Woodturning (decorative)
- Woodturning (faceplate)
- Woodturning (pen-making
- General Woodwork
We aim to obtain sponsorship for prizes in each Members category (cash or vouchers) to the value of $300 (first), $200 (second) and $100 (third). Value of prizes may be reduced if sponsorship is not sufficient to cover the full value. First place in each relevant category is automatically entered into the Open Competition. A certificate will be awarded to the overall “Members Champion”. The Judges may award Highly Commended certificates at their discretion.
4. A Members Only Demonstration Section
The Members Only Display: Items entered in this section must be consistent with the high standards of workmanship and presentation required in the competition sections.

WORD FORMAT
Sales
Work submitted in any section may be listed for sale (10% commission to the Guild). Members who submit items for sale are expected to assist in organising the exhibition.
Prize giving and critique:
Prizes will be awarded and the Judges will be available to comment on their selections. Wednesday 3rd September 2008 from 6.00 pm to 9.30 pm. at the Budawang Building, Exhibition Park in Canberra [EPIC]. A light supper will be provided. Partners and guests are welcome.
Prizes awarded previously in recycled or plantation timber and the novice section have been omitted this year.
A category of ‘Collaborative work’ replaces instruments (see Conditions of entry).
